Taking part in clinical studies: for patients

Taking part in a clinical study is voluntary. The patient is told about the purpose of the study, the procedures, the risks and the possible benefits, and then signs informed consent. During the study, doctors supervise the patient.

How participation works

People who wish to take part in a clinical study are told about the purpose of the project, what will happen during it, and the risks and possible benefits of taking part. They are also given information about the study medicine. Taking part is voluntary throughout the whole period of the study.

After a detailed discussion and the signing of informed consent, a medical examination is carried out, and the participant then receives instructions and recommendations. The study doctor explains the conditions of the protocol, which must be followed strictly.
